I will be staying up late for this Document Control and Records Management in Regulated Environments meeting on Wednesday night. Can you tell me what percentage of plastic pharmaceutical bottles are sterilized using steam at some point in their production? Also, are they typically sterilized at the manufacturer or by the purchasers of the bottles. It's difficult to tell from researching the web how much of this is out sourced versus being done internally. My interest is due to an environmental concern as a by product of the leeching of the plasticizer during steaming.
